The new 64-bit version of Finale is finally here. Have you gotten ahold of it yet? How does it work with VSL instruments? Let us all know here! DG

I just started to work with it. It is frustrating! I used a custom text for Maracto but I can't seem to get back to normal operations after it. I've been stuck on it for hours.

Hello and my apologies for not being here for awhile. Are you still having this problem? Can you post a screenshot of the custom Human Playback articulations text you created? DG

Hi, I trying to determine if VSE/VSL would be a good idea for the composer I am assisting. I have questions about its use. Would we be able to use the MIDI Tools function in Finale so that it could affect the velocity, or would we need to go another route in adjusting the volume aside from dynamics?

Yes, you can use the MIDI tool in Finale to control velocity but it's quite clumsy even in the newest version of Finale. The best way to control playback of VSL instruments within Finale is via Human Playback. The VSL website has a file containing detailed Human Playback settings for the VSL Special Edition instruments (I believe it's posted here as well). If you're using the more expensive libraries, or download instruments, you need to create Human Playback definitions from scratch for those (you can probably get a member here who has already done that to post them). What a lot of people do is to save the Finale score as a .MID file and then import it into a DAW such as Sonar, Cubase, ProTools, etc. where editing and controlling MIDI data is much easier. DG

Very funny, Bill. Everyone else here is free to post, too....including you. ;-) Fact is, I don't use VSL that much anymore in my regular Finale usage, especially since I got ahold of NotePerformer. If you have any observations about VSL and Finale 26.2, though, please share.

To tell the truth, I haven't opened Finale for a while, and never bothered to update to 26. Overture suites me best these days, but always hope Finale will get the update it needs.
