Before I bite the bullet and migrate to Sibelius could some please help with the most basic of tasks namely: how do I open an instance of Vienna Ensemble in Finale? Nothing I have tried seems to work. I have looked at many forums and followed many suggestions but Finale 2014 just refuses to recognise VSL's existence. A definitive guide would be so much appreciated. Many thanks

Setup: When you install VE, make note of where the 32bit and 64bit VST instruments are placed
In Finale, add the folder with the 32bit VST to the plug-in directory dialog box
In use: Start the VE 64bit Server
Open Finale and setup your score
In score manager, change the device to Vienna Ensemble
Click the Edit Player link. In the VE dialog that appears, click connect, then double click on the available instance
The Ensemble window will open, and you add your instruments there.

By far the most common reason for this is that Finale isn't looking in the right place for your 32-bit Vienna Ensemble DLL file. You need to ensure that the folder where you installed it is included in the plug-in folder list inside the VST setup in Finale (Bill Reed's step #2 above).
At any rate.....did you get it to work?
DG
P.S. - The next version of Finale will be 64-bit, which will facilitate the loading of large ensembles.
