This is mainly aimed at Bill Reed, who I know does this.............could someone post a step-by-step guide to hosting VSL instruments in VE Pro outside of Finale instead of as a 32-bit plugin inside of Finale? I know that the three big advantages of this method of getting around Finale's 32-bit architecture are (1) VE stays high and dry if Finale crashes (and vice versa), (2) you can take advantage of increased RAM usage and load way more instruments into VE, and (3) you only have to load your ensemble once instead of having to load a new instance of VE as a VST plugin every time you change projects or programs.
My basic question is: how do you send the MIDI data out of Finale and into VE, then back into Finale for playback?
Thanks for elucidating this for the rest of us......

David is this with Fin2012 or Fin2014? There's a bug in the Fin2014 Score Manger, and I haven't yet solved how to add the Even Input plugin, to be able to send all channels to on VEP instance.

I use Finale 2012c but plan to upgrade at some point in the near future. If you could do a writeup for 2012 for now (which I think is the version a majority, if not a plurality, of people reading this use, at least for the time being), and then 2014 when this 2014 score manager bug is resolved (note to MakeMusic: can you say "maintenance release ASAP"?), that would be great. Thanks much!

Well, this leaves a lot to be desired, but don't really have more time at the moments, and wanted to send it off. It's for Fin2014, but Fin2012 isn't much different. Just one less bug! Attachments:VEP.pdf (245.44 KB)

Thanks for doing this, Bill! I'm going to get you a Spell Checker for Christmas! KIDDING! I'll report back how this works out. Confession: I use the freebie Vienna Ensemble and haven't had $300 lying around to throw at VEP.....I assume this will work for regular old VE as well? Or not?

Yes, it should work for VE, as long as you're just using VSL instruments. I'm not sure about the effects and bussing.
