It's finally here! Finale 2014 (yes, they skipped 2013) was released this week and, among the other miscellaneous fixes and improvements, I saw on the MakeMusic Finale support forum that Finale 2014 does indeed fix the notorious can't-export-audio-to-WAV-files-using-VSL-instruments problem that plagued Finale, even through 2012c for some of us (me included - I have to use Finale 2010 if I want to record VSL instruments from within Finale, which is, of course, ridiculous). VSL aside, the 2014 upgrade seems worth it to me just for some of the improvements, i.e. making hairpin crescendos and descrescendos snap to beats the same way staff expressions do. Why did this take so long? Working with hairpins, particularly when you have the same one in numerous staves, has been one of the most aggravating give-me-Sibelius-now aspects of Finale for years. At any rate, has anyone upgraded to 2014 (costs $139.95) and used Vienna Instruments or Vienna Ensemble as a VST plugin with successful recording results yet? Please report here.... DG
